The committee from Woodfield and Brydges Community of Christ and the Baha’i Community are helping over 200 families a month.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer to help on the Saturday please come for 10 am set up – 11:00 am final preparation.

As a Pastor and convert to the Community of Christ I felt it may be helpful during this time to share my thoughts regarding the recent announcement from the world church to sell the Historic sites and objects to the Mormon church..
I grew up Anglican and, in my teens, became associated with the Mormon Church in the community where I lived. The relationship ended as a mutual decision between myself and the church that I would not find a community I was looking for in the Mormon faith because I could not accept theology perceptions of the Mormon church “on Faith alone”. Therefore, my questions could not be answered.
Through my spouse and her family, I became associated with the RLDS – Community of Christ in the early seventies and found a community that I felt at home with.
One of the major things that convinced me about this faith movement was also part of the history when the direction of revelation addressed the issue of multiple wives in place in other cultures as those individuals accepted the theology of the RLDS church. Rather then standing on historical norms the church met the issue with compassion and kindness making the adaptation to not force individuals to cast out multiple wives but to support and cherish them with the understanding that going forward monogamy was the direction of scripture and theology and therefore not to take any new wives.
The other statement that convinced me that I wanted to be part of this movement was a statement by Wallace B Smith April 9, 1978.
“ I WANT TO BE A PART OF A CHURCH THAT IS FOR THINGS.
THAT REJOICES OVER THE OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE HUMANITY AT ITS POINT OF NEED.
THAT OFFERS A ‘BECOMING’ POWER
THAT OFFERS BEAUTY FOR ASHES,
THAT CREATES A FEELING OF WORTH IN ALL INDIVIDUALS,
THAT MOTIVATES CONCERN AND ACTION FOR THE WELLBEING OF OTHERS
AND
THAT PLACES HUMANITY IN MEANINGFUL PERSPECTIVE WITH ALL GOD’S UNIVERSE.
AND I WANT MOST OF ALL TO TELL OTHERS ABOUT SUCH A CHURCH.”
Since that time I have rejoiced as the church has moved to a true Community of Christ with the embracing of the vital roles of women in the Priesthood and gender equality, with the acceptance of LGBTQ+s members as equal and vital component of the fabric of the church’s Family as followers of Christ in community and leadership ministry.
I too have felt struggles on some of the changes to our historic roots with the name change but have grown to understand the beauty that this action brought to the mission we love.
As a convert I do not have the deep emotional connection that the Kirtland Temple and Nauvoo etc. creates in so many who cherish these properties as an intricate part of their belief and church connection.
I also feel pain for the hurt and sorrow that this causes but I must look to the future as I would be more deeply saddened to see the world church of Community of Christ slowly deteriorate as it loses the financial ability for mission, ministry and capabilities to be a light for Christ’s mission in the world.
I pray that those who are suffering the lose of the historic properties can allow their hearts to be comforted in the knowledge that this unfortunate reality has provided the means to sustain mission and the message that this church has to offer to the world.
My personal prayers are with each individual during this time of struggle and loss.

Woodfield Community of Christ, London, Ontario acknowledge that this is sacred land upon which we are privileged to live and work.
We recognize the deep connection and the long standing relationship between the indigenous peoples and the land of Southwestern Ontario and of London.
Most recently, this land in the area we call London is the territory of the Chippewa of the Thames, the Oneida of the Thames and Muncy Delaware Nation. There are 11 First Nations communities in the region of Southwestern Ontario and over 120 in the province as a whole.
Today this land is still home to many indigenous people from across Turtle Island.
We are deeply grateful to have the opportunity to be in this place.
Community of Christ in London, Ontario, wish to add our voices to mourn with the peoples of the Indigenous nations during this time of recognition of residents of indigenous schools, both survivors and those lost.
It is imperative that we, who are not members of the Indigenous nations stand beside our brothers and sisters in remembrance and recognition of the atrocities that were inflicted upon these great peoples.
Our prayers for reconciliation and our calls for justice join with those members of the indigenous communities.
It is time to listen, talk, and understand in the spirit of reconciliation.

Woodfield Community of Christ supports the LGBTQ2+ community throughout the year but particularly during the recognition of June Pride Month. On Sunday July 23rd the Gay Pride Parade was held in London. The parade was well attended and lasted over an hour with individuals, clubs, associations, radio stations and other groups in the London Community participating. https://www.pridelondon.ca View the photo gallery at the bottom of this page.
Community of Christ is an inclusive gathering place. We proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace.
